As a pairing, it works well alongside a partner running a more forgiving racket with a wide sweet spot, who can sustain the rallies while this one closes them out.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone stepping up from intermediate level, or to players carrying elbow or shoulder niggles: the combined stiffness of face and core shows no mercy there.

The Response Alu 2025 is consistent from top to bottom. Everything about it — 24K, hard EVA, 38mm, high balance — points the same direction, and that's a strength: no component works against another.

What it asks for in return is tolerance. Less margin off-centre, less help in scrambled defence, and less comfort in hand than a medium-rubber teardrop. If your game is about stepping in, pressing and finishing at the net, the trade-off pays off. If you rely on digging out impossible balls from the back, there are more forgiving rackets out there that will win you more matches.

This is a padel racket for someone who already knows how to hit the ball and just wants their racket to stay out of the way.
